If you could invent a holiday, what and when would it be? What special traditions would take place on that day? It's too soon to discuss - the war is too recently past - but there should be a yearly festival to commemorate its end, celebrated by all the worlds of the Alpha Quadrant that came together to fight the Dominion. It would serve as a ( Read more... )

I was actually about to give the exact answer to this question as you have. I don't know if I should be impressed or frightened.
Smirks slightly

Since the end of the war has there been any memorials set in place to commemerate those who died during this dark time? Not necessarly a celebration but some sort of unified gathering to honor both the fallen and the survivors?

The humans have a saying, "Great minds think alike." *smirks* I don't believe they would ever have meant it to apply to a Bajoran and a Cardassian, however.

There have been numerous memorials on nearly every world involved in the war, but not a unified gathering of all the allies; in fact some of the old animosities began to reappear within weeks of the end of the war. I don't know why this should surprise me, let alone make me sad.

I don't think I've ever heard of that saying before myself. Unusual but certainly suitable if I don't say so myself. If not ironic.

So old enemies have returned to their warring again? So soon after commiting a great victory...Thats dissipointing. I thought that we'd learn from our mistakes of the past and even realize the power that would come from our unity. But somehow this doesn't surprise me.

I dont suppose things have improved a little amongst our peoples has it? Or have we too returned to our roots of hatred as well?

Tries to hide the fact this bothers him more then he wants to admit. So much for progress he thinks to himself darkly.

Oh, things are better among our peoples. Our provisional governments are on speaking terms. It's understood on Bajor now that Dukat was mad, and that Cardassians as a whole are not responsible for some of his worst excesses. I won't lie to you: there is still a lot of hatred and resentment. But things are better among our peoples than, say, between the Federation and the Romulans at present.

He smiles slightly to her words, it is a good sign even if its a small one.

Sounds like things have certainly improved. I'm glad to know that we are at least on speaking terms. Its definatly far better then what we used to be to put it mildly. But on the other side I don't expect all Cardassians or Bajorans to share our views of nuetrality. There will always be those who cling to the past believing that somethings will never change which to a degree is correct but it leaves no room for improvement which is too bad.

Frowns slightly

The Federation and the Romulans are at odds? I thought they were in alliance...Weren't they?

Apparently there has been something of a schism among the Romulans...there are several groups of them, the Rihannsu, the Remans, those we know as Romulans and quite frankly I'm not positive any longer whether they all exist in the same universes or timelines. I believe that you have heard of Captain Picard...apparently he was cloned, and the clone was sent to live among the Remans, and frankly I'm rather confused by the rest of the reports, as the only thing which seems certain is that Commander Data was destroyed, except that apparently his memory was downloaded into another android prior to his demise...

Looks a little confused now

The captain was cloned? What would they want with the humans? I've heard vaguely of the Remans and Rihannsu but I'm not too familar with them myself either.

Commander Data destroyed? Thats too bad from what I've heard about him his design was light years ahead of its time. But at least they did have another version of his design and were able to preserve his memory.

I'm the wrong person to ask, as I only learned the story via transmissions on a datachip that I watched on a viewscreen in a room with many other people; it certainly looked like Data was destroyed, but the Enterprise records show that they downloaded his memory into a duplicate created by the same android manufacturer, though not the same one who tried to ally with the renegade Borg...frankly I don't know how Picard kept any of this straight. There had been a rumor at one point that Commander Spock was on Romulus, but no one reported hearing from him during this crisis with the Remans, or if they did then I didn't have the intelligence clearance to learn about it. Maybe we should sit down and review that transmission together!

If I didn't know any better I'd think this was some sort of elaborate joke! It just sounds too over the top to be believable. Then again sometimes the fact is even more unbelievable then fiction.

I can't imagine why Spock would be on Romulus and not make himself known. Besides isn't he dead? Maybe they made a clone of him as well.

Smirks obviously joking.

That sounds like a good idea, perhaps between the two of us we'll be able to make some sense of this confusing mess.
