Hearing, sight, taste, touch, and smell: the five senses. Which would be the worst one for you to lose, and why?
What is this, a Cardassian torture session? I've heard that Gul Darhe'el asked prisoners questions like that. Why would I want to devote any time to thinking about it?
I remember Bareil, when half his brain was gone, trying to recapture the memory of senses he no longer had. He chose to die instead of living that way. I'm not sure I'd have his courage, but then, I'm not sure I'd have wanted to live, either, as a ghost of myself.
I know that there are other races whose senses are different from mine. I've heard that Klingons can see a color that humans and Bajorans don't even have a name for, and we can smell things no Andorian would know about, and Quark can hear things I would never perceive. But my senses are part of me, and I couldn't voluntarily give one up any more easily than I imagine parents could choose between their children.
