I can't wait to watch Han and Leia's first kiss.

Looks at the quiz and raises a browridge looking a little confused.

Strange in Kasidy's quiz I was the Luke Skywalker. Now I'm this Hans Solo? Is it normal for female roles to be played by men in ancient human legends?

If its all the same, I think I'd pass on the kissing scene, no offence to Captain Aubrey who I'm sure would be a fine kisser, but I do prefer the ladies.

Smirks.

My dear fellow, this is no laughing matter in the Navy. And I have always preferred the ladies. In fact, was the Colonel not of such high rank, I would invite her to dinner.

chuckles

Somehow I couldn't picture you taking on a woman's role.

I wouldn't worry so much about her title, the Colonel is one of the most reasonable women I know. I don't think rank bears the same importance to her as it does with most. She is very approachable and alot easier to talk to then I once thought.

Was I to be completely honest, I would have to tell you that when I was younger I played Ophelia in a production of Hamlet. I put on the dress and sang her songs.

But are you suggesting that I approach the Colonel? After I had made the statement I was worried you would call me out for sounding as though I had any inappropriate interest in her. After all, you know her much better than I.

Stifling back laughter at the mental image of Jack Aubrey in women's clothes he tries to remain polite but is unable to hide his smile.

Dare I ask why you actually went on stage and performed as a woman? Were you drunk or on a dare? I can just imagine the audience's reaction to the sight of you in woman's garb trying to sing songs like a woman.

He chuckles to his final remarks.

I know her well enough to say she won't try kill you or at the very least challenge you to a duel should you have dinner with her. Unfortunately I can't say the same about another woman I invited for dinner. Its a complicated story to say the least. I hardly think it would be regarded inappropriate, unless you were to invite her back to your quarters or something of that like. Then I might get jealous.

I looked this up for you in the station library. From Patrick O'Brian's The Surgeon's Mate (one of several volumes of the official biography of Jack Aubrey and Stephen Maturin), pages 205-9, where Jack shows Stephen Elsinore as they sail past it and Jack points out Hamlet's grave, saying that he never laughed so much in his life as during the play ( ... )

He reads this in silence for a moment all the while struggling to contain his laughter until he reaches the bit about him singing. Chuckling loudly he grins obviously amused and entertained by the mental image of Jack in a gown singing about men.

Thank you for looking this up for me! It's been awhile since I've been so entertained, I almost wish I could have been there to witness it first hand!
