OOC: Rambling about Jaina and Jag in canon.

First off, you can't talk about Jag without first talking about ( the Chiss )

All he knows for sure is that he likes Jaina- likes spending time with her, likes talking/teasing/flying with her, likes everything about her. Eventually, he loves her. That's all fine and dandy for them, but what about the rest of the galaxy?

That's the perfect summary of it. And can I just throw in randomly - cause even though its still before eleven I'm insanely tired so I might not make sense - that I love the scene in the book when he does realize he loves her? She's in a coma helping out Tahiri and he's in the monitored med bay where he's more than likely being caught on tape or whatever, and he just goes out and says it. And she hears him even in the coma and that scene totally sold me on this relationship.

Yeah..

Annnnnyway, I loved your description of the Chiss culture and how Jag would have fit in with that. It just describes so much of who he is. And why he acts like he does. And while I know Jaina understands that, Jenny still has a tough time picturing and describing it, so this helped.

Why they didn't stop hiding it after Goddess jig. Maybe they were both too unsure about this relationship? I mean, when you're given a chance to possibly fall in love in a situation like they were in, it might be something you want to keep underwraps. Your own little secret that only that other person shares that you can rely on to get you through the roughest times.

Eithe that or maybe Jag was afraid of Han. ;P

And Goddess jig did sort of last for a while. Not as much as on Borleias, but Jaina still did sort of identify herself as Yun Harla around the Vong for majority of the books after it. Mostly cause the Vong would keep identifying her as their goddess though.

What I think I like most about the Jaina and Jag relationship is how they compliment each other. They really are very much Han and Leia in reverse. Jaina's the scoundrel, he's more proper. And it works. She teaches him how to enjoy life more (even though she's really just as much of a workaholic as he is) and seize those little moments you might not otherwise get. Jag keeps her calm and centered, and provides a serious voice of reason when she needs it. It works out pretty well.

And one more thing? Jaina's decided that that whole Force trick with Jag she mentioned to Claire the other day? She uses it when they're running sims together and she doesn't particularly want to get vaped.

ghklsdfjgh. JEDI CHEATER. *omg so totally laughed out loud when I read that* (ps, did I mention that I knew a guy in high school who tried to Force-molest people just like that, from across crowded rooms? I kid you not.)

On a more serious note- I agree with the complimentary, reversed-Han-and-Leia thing. As for the keeping-the-relatioship-a-secret thing, it's been ages since I read the NJO straight through, so I'm a ltitle spotty on my Goddess lore. It does make sense that they would want to guard what little time they had to themselves, and sort of lock it up so that nothing else could touch it. I just wonder why they didn't even, like... look at each other in public, practically. It took ages for that to even happen, if I remember correctly.

Yeah, thinking will be better after a few hours of sleep.

Dude, she's a Solo. Of course she's a Jedi cheater. And WTF GUY IN HS? Does he realize that, y'know, that's not POSSIBLE? And a bit creepy.

Goddess thing. Main part of that was on Borleias. Then you have DW, which really doesn't have Jag in it at all. Next books are the Force Heretic ones, and by then people know about their relationship. And they do look at each other in public and stuff cause there's one scene where they're celebrating with the rest of the Suns and Jag sends her a small smile and she blushes. Which made me giggle.

I think they really kept it private for about a year or a little less. I don't know. Timelines in NJO are spotty sometimes.

Jag was in DW, but back with a Chiss Squdron (wtk???? *STABS IT TO DEATH*) and had that goddam stick rammed right back up his ass.

But yeah, I guess I can see that then. It was in Force Heretic I think that he really started getting more comfortable with their relationship to the point that he would tell her that he loved her, and start smiling at her in public. Hmmmm, okay. That works.

And I can see that it would take more than a year, with the war on. Mmmmm, yes.

Thank you for the comments- it's really helping to settle my mind on his state of mind re: the two of them. And stuff.

Hahahaha. He does at that point, doesn't he?

And you're welcome. It's interesting to talk about, although I need to keep reminding Jaina that this Jag isn't the Jag from her time. The stuff she was telling Claire the other day was definately from FH or on in the book series. Most of it anyway, I think.

Yay for a settled stat of mind though!
