So I've written some stuff lately, but nothing really about what's going on in my life. Which, by the way, has been wonderful. So here's to quickly catch you up:
John has been living at my house a little over a month now, and it has been so nice to have him around. It's mainly little things--him doing the dishes, sitting together to watch a little TV with Mom, coming home to him after work, catching lunch a few times with him, him helping out Dad in the backyard and them starting to bond enough now to conspire against Mom and I, etc. He had scored an interview with McKesson at their job fair about two hours after he unpacked in Lewiston that resulted in his hiring. It was great, but they weren't picking up the account he was working for until this week. He's been sort of going bonkers at home by himself, especially recently when he decided he'd seen just about everything there is to see on the internet.
John's first day was yesterday, and he thinks he's going to like it. It's data entry, but not quite brainless--it'll involve a lot of problem solving, which he's good at, but not nearly as much phone work as he was expecting. Aside from one asinine lady, his department seems good to work with and the benefits are amazing.
I'm still working at SeniorsPlus and really liking it. The only big hang-up recently was Nicole's dad having an incident and suddenly having to have 24 hour care from Nicole. She hasn't really been in to work for a month and a half now, and I'm starting to get used to doing everything myself. It's very manageable right now, but it was a little nuts a couple weeks ago when ChocoLArt set up was in last-minute insanity and I was directing calls while working InDesign. She wants to come back, but it's a matter of working schedules to make sure her dad isn't alone. I hope it's soon. Though I'm capable, I'm a little lonely.
During Lent, John and I had joined one of the small groups for Disciples in Mission (parish Bible study), which was fun. We met at Bates College where half the group was from, and it was just nice to meet and share with a group of like-minded spiritual young people. Not really something I've done since high school.
John got TJ all fired up about Nerf guns after TJ came into our room one day and John shot him to death with the Vulcan. I sense the neighborhood becoming embroiled in Nerf warfare come summer.
I haven't been on the internet outside of work too much. Some if it is that I just haven't been home. I have a three-hour watercolor class with Mom on Tuesday nights, meaning I spend most of the night on Mondays catching up for class. On Thursdays, we'd been doing the Bible study, and the Batesie girls like us enough to want us to stick around for their club meetings until the end of the school year. (I've never been a townie in a college club before!) And the weekend is hit or miss for us even being in town. And we like to hang with Beth and TJ like once a week.
And some of the lack of internet is that I've never liked going home to be in front of a computer screen after sitting in front of one at work all day. And some of it is that John had also been on the internet all day while he was unemployed and didn't want anything to do with it by the time I got home, so it felt rude for me to hop onto it. That last bit, at least, has changed now. Hello, internet friends! I will make time for you. :)
shenanigans,
