Enjoying Wien

Another long weekend....I'll try to give a recap. Wednesday night I went and saw Devil Wears Prada with Resi and her friend Lisi. Thursday I shopped during the day, and then wore my new shoes (super cute Clarks) and scarf out to a banquet for all of the TAs. I talked to Diane (of the AIEP 2004 fame) for a bit and met a couple other second-years. Kristy and I took off early to participate in Chinese night at her church. I could not eat the food, and out team came in last in the quiz...but despite that, it was a lot of fun. Talked to a nice scandanavian, got to use some german. Afterward I called up Rainer, who lives right around the corner from where I was and we met up for a beer at Kritarium (sp?).

Friday I went to work on my visa and encountered an evil evil woman. Immediately when I walked in she told me to go copy and sit down. I wasn't sure what I needed to copy, so I just sat down for a bit, papers still in hand. When I approached her a second time she said she needed my passport. The second it took for me to reach for it, she was already done with me. I luckily also had a copy of my passport for her. So, she left with my papers. 10 minutes later she came out, and told me I needed copies of my visas, and then starting yelling at me, "you've obviously done this before, why don't you know what to do??" I got sympathy from the others waiting in the room. So, finally after a bit of running around, I got every thing turned in, and hopefully I will have a visa in about 10 days.

It turned into a beautiful afternoon, and I went back downtown to enjoy the city. I bought my chinese book, and sat in the parks. I was on the phone with Katie, sitting on the steps of the Burggasse Library, when I realized I needed some dinner, so I ran into that Billa (the one I frequented daily 3 years ago) while still on the phone. And wouldn't you know it, I ran into Rainer. I passed off the phone to him and let him talk to Katie for a bit. Then I went back to HE with him for a bit to get the mail my mom had sent to me there before I had an address. I got home that night at about 10pm, having left the house at 10 that morning.

Saturday: massage class, nap, ice cream with Kristy. Sunday an amazing PJs day. Stayed in, read, and cleaned.

Monday I went back out on the town. The weather has been wonderful here lately (although today looks colder, and gray). I spent a good deal of time in my favorite poster shop (near Albertina) and ended up buying a Koloman Moser poster that I have ben eying for years, and a Schiele landscape. Both are now up on my wall. I headed home for dinner, and got my Grey's Anatomy fix on tv (although they are a season behind, and in german here).

I have 2 classes today, both on subjects I have done already: Stem Cells and Nuclear power. Tonight is class 2 of Chinese. Kristy and I are meeting up a little before-hand to go over vocab.

I teach today and tomorrow, then have Thursday off for the National Holiday. Teach Friday, Mon, Tues, and then am off until the following Tuesday!
