Title: Baby Makes Four (8/?)
Author: riversorrowdh
Rating: PG13
Disclaimer: This is all fake.
Summary: Michael and Stacey are married and have a four year old daughter, but Michael, David and Jason are in love.
AN: I tried something a little different with this chapter, it's the POV of David and Jason. No Michael in this one, sadly, though he is mentioned. Let me know if this is alright, because I was thinking about doing another chapter like this... :) Also, it's extremely short, sorry bout that!

David finds Jason in the living room after just coming back from visiting with Michael upstairs. He’s strumming lightly on his guitar, a melody so sad David almost starts crying just from the sound of it. The two men have been in constant worry for their Australian lover, and are at a loss for how to help him. As David approaches Jason, he sees that the younger man’s eyes are glazed over, but his fingers keep moving effortlessly over the guitar strings. Not until David sits down next to him on the couch does Jason stir from his trance-like state.

"Why did this have to happen?" Jason asks as David takes the guitar and plays a new melody, one that doesn’t remind him of the events of the past days. Jason’s eyes, still focused on some distant spot in the room, haven’t moved since David sat down. "Why him? Why Gracie?" Jason’s voice is quiet and distant, as if only his body is here in the room, but his spirit is so far away.

Jason isn’t the first to ask himself those questions. David finds himself struggling with those inner demons and others every minute of every day. David put his hand on Jason’s shoulder and squeezes it gently.

"I wish I had answers, Eyelashes." And he did. For everyone’s sake.

After a few moments of troubled silence, Jason speaks again. "This is all because of us."

David wrinkled his eyebrows. "What?"

"If we only had some sense, we could have stopped ourselves from getting involved with a married man. A man with a child. I feel so guilty."

David sighed and turned Jason’s face so he could look into the man’s eyes. "Michael wants this. He wants us. You heard him. He told us himself." David takes a long look at the pain in the younger man’s eyes, a pain that he’s seen far too much of in the past couple of weeks. "Jason, don’t do this to yourself."

"We’ve destroyed his life!" Jason exclaims louder than David would have liked.

A single tear leaks out of Jason’s eye and starts a sad parade of tears to cascade down Jason’s cheeks. Seeing his two lovers in so much pain tugs on David’s heartstrings. Holding out his arms, David says, "C’mere." David gathers Jason into his arms and rocks him gently. "Shh. It’ll be okay." Jason sobs silently into David’s shoulder while David gently rubs the younger man’s back, hoping to console him.

"He’s not going to stay with us. He’ll leave us. He’ll leave us." Jason repeats this sentence until David quiets him.

"Hey, hey. Don’t think like that." David, though, is at a loss for what to say. He knows that Jason looks up to Michael, and respects him. Jason practically hangs on the oldest man’s every word. Hell, David can’t really blame him. He, too, loves Michael more than a soul mate. He is a confidant, a rock. He’s the one who usually pulls them together during hard times. And now it’s their turn. They could begin to repay Michael for all of his love and support over the years. He tells Jason this, and it seems to calm him.

"I want to talk to him. I want him to talk to us." Jason sniffs, his voice still shaky from crying.

" I know. But we need to be patient. This isn’t going to be solved in one day."

"No. We can snap him out of this. I know we can. Please, David. Let’s try. If we both go up together and talk to him, maybe he’ll come around and we can fight to get Gracie back." David eyes him warily.

"I don’t know if that’ll work, Jason."

"Will it hurt us to try?" Jason takes a shaky breath and looks down at the couch. "I want him back, David. This isn’t Michael. I just want to try and get him back."

David smoothes Jason’s dreadlocks, tucking one behind his ear. "Okay," he says. "Let’s go."
