We tried "Raw Meal" a new meal-replacement product by Garden of Life today.
"Raw Meal" is packed with organic ingredients and has no synthetic ingredients. Somehow, it has at least 100% of the RDA of a number of vitamins and minerals including vitamin D and magnesium, both of which are commonly said to be deficient in Americans. Still, with only 400IU of Vitamin D, and with my goal of 5000-10000 IU a day, supplementing remains sensible.
My wife smelled the contents after opening but did not tell me all of her thoughts. I learned after preparing a smoothie with "Raw Meal", strawberries, coconut milk, and water, that the hint of vomit taste at the back of my tongue matched her initial olfactory impression.
Mostly though, the taste is interesting in a pleasant way. My wife found that cocoa made the drink very palatable. I found with repeated tastes that the finish was acceptable and the overall taste was very nice.
We will continue drinking this often, every day for me.
I would love to know if the vitamins and minerals in this product are more assimilable/absorbable than what you find in almost all supplements because they are derived from food.
