General
Canon Source: Trigun
Canon Format: Manga
Character's Name: Livio the Doublefang | Razlo the Tri-Punisher of Death
Character's Age: Sixteen, but appears to be in his mid-twenties.
Conditional: N/A
What form will your character's NV take? A phone with a large screen and big buttons. There is a video feature, but mostly, it's fairly simplistic.
Abilities
Character's Canon Abilities: Fortified bones and musculature, enhanced reflexes and metabolism: Livio is, essentially, a superior example of an ordinary human being. He looks the same, talks the same, and acts the same, but in reality he's a highly skilled human weapon. After being trained by a militant cult of assassins, Livio was surgically modified to be able to far surpass the capabilities of an ordinary human. He has been shown in canon to redirect missiles with his bare hands, fight at incredible speeds, and recover from near-fatal injuries in minutes thanks to an enhanced metabolism. He is incredibly resilient, and nothing short of decapitation (or asphyxiation) can kill him since his regeneration is at high enough of a level to regrow limbs. This ability does, however, come with a price, as his heightened metabolism has made him age faster -- e.g. he appears to be in his mid-twenties when, in reality, he's only about sixteen.
In addition to these abilities, Livio is an excellent hand with guns, particularly his signature weapons, the Doublefangs (cross-shaped machine guns that can fire in more than one direction), and is well-versed in the art of killing people.
Conditional: If your character has no superhuman canon abilities, what dormant ability will you give them? N/A
Weapons: Livio will arrive with his Doublefangs (custom machine guns, essentially), a handgun that used to be Wolfwood's, and a single vial of Wolfwood's regenerative drugs.
History/Personality/Plans/etc.
Character History:
Livio |
RazloPoint in Canon: Livio will be pulled in the middle of his fight with Elendira so he will essentially be interrupted while he's fighting to save all of humanity from Knives. He will not be happy about this at all, especially since that fight is basically his attempt to atone for the wrongs that he's done (particularly Wolfwood's death, which he blames himself for). All-in-all, he'll be a bundle of issues, but he's an adaptable sort and very open to learning new things.
Conditional: Brief summary of previous RP history: N/A
Character Personality:
"It will be the first time I get to use the terrible skills I trained so hard to get to protect something. You don't know how happy that'll make me."
If there was a single word that could define Livio, 'conflicted' would probably be the best way to describe him. On the surface, he's a very laid-back, good-natured young man -- a little awkward and clumsy as far as social interactions go, but that's to be expected given his background and age. He's quick to smile and slow to anger, and he has absolutely no qualms about putting himself in harm's way in order to protect someone else.
There is, however, a darker aspect of himself that he prefers to keep hidden. That is to say, though Livio is indeed a kind person a heart, he is also an assassin. Already damaged by the harshness of the world around him, Livio was taken in as a young child, trained, and molded to be an efficient and merciless killer. He has since broken ties with that way of life, but it haunts him still, especially the blood he knows is on his hands.
But how did a young boy with a mild, if not timid disposition become a murderer for a plant worshiping cult of assassins? The answer is simple (and more than a little sad): Abuse, neglect, and a lack of self-esteem.
From the time he was a child, Livio has had issues with self-worth. From being abused by his parents to being "abandoned" at an orphanage, Livio started out damaged at a very young age. Dismal and depressed, Livio often kept to himself in the beginning, spending his time brooding instead of doing anything productive. It's that behavior that earned him the nickname "Crybaby Livio", and though he did manage to pull himself out of his slump with some help and redirection from Wolfwood, his problems were compounded by the "puppy" incident, when he awoke with dogblood encrusted on his hands. Convinced he was no longer needed or wanted, he struck out on his own, a decision that only led to more pain and suffering as he was kicked around and beaten by others he encountered along the way.
Enter Razlo, the psychotic "other" specifically created to cope with the stress and hardship Livio was unable handle himself. This is also a source of guilt for him because even though "small children have no idea when they're going insane" (Livio's words to Wolfwood), he blames himself for all the terrible things than came after due to his own weakness. Joining the Eye of Michael, the people he killed, helping Knives, knowing his own hands essentially murdered his surrogate brother (Wolfwood) -- all of this has left him, quite honestly, with a massive amount of guilt. The lack of self-esteem that made him want/need to be needed was warped into something terrible, and it's something he has yet to forgive himself for.
That is exactly why, no matter what the cost to himself personally, he will do whatever he can to help and protect others. When he was a child at the orphanage, that was what Wolfwood showed him -- how caring for others and protecting them is a reward unto itself. He showed it to Livio again when they fought each other that last time, and once it was over, Livio vowed to live his life the way Wolfwood had lost his -- sacrificing for others and atoning for the lives he's taken.
"That ain't cool, Livio...the fuck you tryin' to do...kill me?"
Though it's not exactly clear when Razlo first came into existence, what is clear is why he came to be: namely, Livio's fears and insecurities. Unable to handle the stress and pain he was faced with as a child, Livio created "Razlo", a psychotic, brutal personality capable of not only taking punishment but also dealing it out. In terms of their speech and mannerisms, Livio and Razlo are as different as night and day. Where Livio is more soft-spoken, Razlo is crass and foul-mouthed. He delights in violence and ripping people to shreds, and even though he only appears when Livio is in dire need of help, it causes Livio no small amount of shame that he has to rely on Razlo at all. For his part, Razlo is constantly talking down to Livio. Livio's weakness disgusts him, and he doesn't hesitate to tell Livio that it irritates him to have to share a body with someone who's so weak.
Despite that, Razlo and Livio do have a rapport with one another that seems to depend on Livio more than Razlo. When Livio's will was broken and devoted only to serving the Eye of Michael, it was easy for Razlo to slip out and take control. By the end of the fight with Wolfwood, however, Livio has enough strength to put his "other" in his place and take his body back. Though Razlo bitches about this at the time, when he later appears during the fight with Elendira, his tone has changed. He's still the same asshole, but he agrees to a team-up and even encourages Livio during the last stages of the fight -- an echo of times past when both of them were working hard to become stronger at the Eye of Michael. This is because, though Razlo does have his own sense of self and autonomy, he is still the second half -- i.e. the half created by Livio, designed to not only be the strong one, but also to make the whole stronger as well.
Make no mistake, though. It's strength that Razlo respects -- the only thing he respects -- and he won't hesitate to rip you apart if there's some amusement to be had in it.
Conditional: Personality development in previous game: N/A
Character Plans: Since his "brother" (Wolfwood) is already in the Port, there will definitely be some serious issues for the two of them to work out, especially due to discrepancies in their canon points. I would also like to get Livio actively involved with helping people -- possibly find a position on the police or protecting others after sirens. I also want to give him the chance to grow as a person and do normal things since his background basically made it impossible for him to enjoy normalcy of any kind.
Appearance/PB: Tall (around 6'6") and muscular, with short white hair, gold eyes, and a little bit of scruff. His skin's somewhat tan due to the twin suns of Gunsmoke, and there's a weird looking tattoo that's etched around his left eye.

[ A burst of sound and static is what comes through at first, followed by some garbled speech. Whoever is using this NV obviously doesn't know what he's doing since he dropped it before he could turn it on.
It's no great matter, though, as the video eventually turns on, revealing a young man with gold eyes and white hair, wearing a dark hat and poncho. He's looking a little scruffy and worn about the edges, but really, his most curious features are probably the tattoo around his left eye and the metal plate where his left ear should be. Two metal crosses hang down at his sides, and there are bloodstains on his shirt too; curiously enough, he doesn't seem to be injured in any way.
He taps the screen once, unsure. ]
Uh...hello.
[ An awkward pause. ]
I was told that I could talk to others who were brought here by the...Core, I think it was. [ He clears his throat. ] Anyway- I was wondering if anyone knew a way to get back. There's something really important that I need to take care of. I know it's probably a long shot, but...it's urgent. If you can help, I'd appreciate it.
[ Yet another awkward pause before he starts fiddling with the device again- and stops, a curious look on his face -- almost like wonder. ]
...This really is Earth isn't it?

She's coming.
Watching with wide eyes as she stripped off her jacket and snapped the restraints, listening to her commentary was secondary to keeping his eyes on her. She was fast; he already knew that, and he couldn't afford to allow his focus to be anything less than razor sharp.
She leaned down, and he knew right then and there- she's about to move, be ready- !
And then nothing. A sense of vertigo gripped him as the entire world shifted, turning over, inside and out, only to spit him out on hard dirt.
His vision blurred, and he bit back a soft groan. Slowly, he pushed himself into a kneeling position, his stomach twisting about as he surveyed an entirely unfamiliar landscape. Blinking a few times, he stared, not quite sure whether he should believe his eyes. What was this place? How had he gotten here?
Where was the Crimsonnail?
Snatching up the Doublefangs from where they'd fallen, he was on his feet in an instant, ignoring the nausea gripping his insides. Whirling, he looked for her, golden eyes searching the shadows for even the slightest quiver a movement.
Nothing.
Perplexed, Livio slowly lowered his guns, his brow furrowed with confusion. What happened? One minute I was there, and then the next...
Shaking his head to clear it, Livio folded the Doublefangs and put them away, a gun resting on either hip. Looking up at the dark sky, he felt a chill wash over him -- like he was small and directionless, a castaway adrift in a sea of ether.
Alone.
Livio tightened his jaw, eyes clear and focused as he stared out across the baseball diamond. He wasn't sure what all of this was about, but he wasn't about to let it shake him. There had to be someone here -- someone with answers -- and so long as he kept his head on straight, he'd be fine.
With that thought in mind, Livio started to walk, determined to make the best of whatever situation he'd found himself in.
