Some down time...
Had a blast in Austin with my friends Brian and Jim, celebrating Jim's 50th birthday. It was a nice escape and helped me refocus on getting on handle on my financial situation. Also met a VERY nice guy named Chris at the party and did a little flirting.
Sis arrived the day before I left for TX, so she had some down time too, to just settle in with the place to herself for a few days. I've since got her computer hooked up to my router so she can share the cable modem and access the internet. Still need to get her some kind of "real" bed. I have a convertible sofa but it's in the TV room and she likes to go to be earlier than I do, so she's been sleeping on cushions in the other room (office-come-guest-room) where I provided some closet and dresser space for her things. There's room for a bed in there and I thought I had an air mattress, but it's nowhere to be found. We'll keep looking for something that works.
Ran a listing for the Valiant for sale on both Craigslist and eBay last week, but no takers. I relisted on both yesterday and got a response from the Craigslist ad....a nice young man from Hayward came with his dad to look at the car and really liked it, so they bought it without even haggling the price. I'm glad it's sold as I can really use the money, but will miss that funky old car - as I do all my old cars that I've sold.
Unfortunately, the Saturn's on the "blink" - again - the gear shift linkage is out - again - so I only have 3rd and 4th gear...driveable, but not good. So now that I have money from the sale of the Valiant, I can get that car fixed, although a car repair was NOT in the plan!
Sis and I have been applying for work and she's looking into a nearby college for some paralegal training. I had a couple of temp jobs on the table, one I interviewed for but didn't get, the other is still in "limbo"...the recruiter saying they still haven't decided...and it's been two weeks. We've also been taking the dogs on long walks while weather permits. Her dog and my two all get along great and love taking walks together.

My dogs and I at Colonial Park during one of our walks.
It's taking me some adjustment to get used to "sharing" a place again, having had it all to myself (and the dogs) for the last six years, but so far so good. Sis cooks, so I'm eating better anyway! And she has her own car so we can go to appointments, etc. separately as we see fit although we do some errands together.
Could be worse...money from the car will keep up afloat through the end of the year but I'm getting really tired of this living from check-to-check bullshit, and am more in the mood to look "outside the box" for sources of income and improving my financial situation - including landing a rich husband! Do they pay for old man pr0n?
Onward and upward.....
