A very geeky week indeed

Ahh the return of the cold season, I cannot ride my bike anymore because it is stored for the winter. That means I needed to find something to entertain me a little. I had bought this DIY preamplifier kit a while back to keep me occupied during the winter. I completed the project in 2 days. Although I am glad that it went so well and that it sounds extremely good too, I'm a bit disappointed it didn't keep me occupied longer than that. :P It was my first experience with solder and I did surprisingly good. I really enjoyed building the kit and I'd be very interested to go for a point to point single ended tube amp design but I don't see myself building something like that before finding efficient enough speakers to be able to listen anything through such a amp. I always wanted to build my own speakers and even made a plan on paper for the enclosure, the speakers and the crossover filter to use but that type of speaker would be too inefficient for a SET amp at 88db. Of course, money is an issue as well...

The problem I had with the cruise company in august is still not resolved. This sure takes a long time and it's a pain in the ass to fight against bureaucracy. Even if it takes me a bit of time, that's not what I call a hobby. ;)

This weekend, I'm heading near Quebec city for deer hunting. I went to verify that my rifle was still precise but when I arrived at the shooting club, after 1.5 hour of driving and paying the 20$ fee for the access to the site, I found out I forgot my charger... :( At least it was a nice ride in the car...

Finally, after holding up on the tickets for a year and inviting 6 people to come with me, the Metallica concert in Quebec city is sunday night. I must not forget to bring my ear plugs! :)
