Happy FRIDAY the 13th !!!!!!!!!!!!!
WELL! We wanted rain, we GOT RAIN! :) Of course, after no rain for literal YEARS, with the rain came some damage, but you can’t have everything :) Here are a couple of videos of our town

On July 25th we received ½ an inch in ½ an hour, and then on July 26th we got another ¾ of an inch in an hour. We got a little shower again on July 29th. This little cloudburst brought us another 1/8 inch of rain :) I know it isn’t a lot, but in the desert, every measurable drop counts :)
The interesting thing is, we have lived at Coffinwood for almost 16 years, and we have never had any flooding. With this rain we didn’t have flooding on our property, but our street took quite a hit! It was like a rushing river. Really weird. The damage to our street was so intense that the road department had to come out and put up major barricades to close off our street. And the only accident that occurred in our valley was on OUR street, which is what prompted their attention. Initially when Bryan called them to report it, they blew him off. But then some unknown woman for whatever reason thought it would be a good idea to ride her bicycle in the dark, and she hit the major asphalt crack of destruction and did a faceplant into the ground. She had serious head trauma and lost all of her teeth, and had to be helicoptered out of here! The road department erected their barricades as soon as she was gone.
For a week now we have been advised to NOT spend much time outdoors. The National Weather Service has been issuing smoke advisories due the wildfires burning in Oregon, Northern Nevada and CA. Coffinwood is surrounded by mountains, as is most of our valley. We haven’t seen any of the mountains for days. The smoke is so bad that my eyes even burn in the house :( Over the weekend in Vegas many outdoor places and events actually closed due to air quality! Unreal.
