Have I mentioned that Smitten Kitchen is my new favorite place on the internet? Well, it is, and I'm basically just going through her archives and making a list of new and wonderous things to try, many of which will be made during the next installment of Year of the Fangirl.

I'm testing recipes this week, because cooking makes me very, very happy, and because it's nice to know that even if leiascully does have a soy allergy, we can still eat delicious food.

Dinner at Chez Erin and Mary tonight was Beer Cheese Soup (I subbed gouda & m.jack in for the cheddar & used a pale ale and it was delicious), served with my mama's homemade dinner bread (well, made by me, but it's her recipe) and some apple sausages (fake meat, natch-- but soyless!). It's not the healthiest dinner on the planet, but we eat all right most of the time, so I think we deserve a big warm pot of cheesy goodness.

Sometime this week I think I'm gonna tackle this Caramel Walnut Upside Down Banana Cake , because it sounds like heaven on a plate, and currently slotted for the arrival of Mah Fangirls is a big mess of Irish whiskey & Guinness chocolate cupcakes . [They have Bailey's icing, which, I can't even begin. Do you see why I love this lady???]

Who knows? They might be served with some Fat Lee's, which involves some combination of Bailey's, Starbucks Cream Liqueur, Southern Comfort, Godiva White Chocolate Liqueur, & creme de menthe. I'll holla when I get that recipe worked out. You know, if I can still stand, lol.

drinking, food is love, year of the fangirl, smitten kitchen, southern as the day is long
