rocks fell but no one died

Dear internet,

A goodly portion of Chez Mary and Erin was tragically found to be UNDER WATER this morning at 6:30, when leiascully awoke to find an inch or so of water covering the living room and kitchen floors, along with most of the ceiling in the living room.

IT WAS AMAZING IN A TERRIBLE WAY.

If I needed any proof that my brain has reformatted after attending law school for 6ish months, however, I now have it, for when Mary said, "The toilet has broken and flooded the living room and the ceiling has fallen and maybe your computer is ruined (which it most certainly is, btw)," rather than thinking, "Oh god, oh god, my possessions!" or "Oh god, oh god, my house!" or "Oh god, oh god, why hast thou forsaken me?" instead I thought:

"That sure does look like a breach of the covenant of quiet enjoyment, and if it isn't, well, it sure should be."

So. That's law-school normal! Mwaha.

Anyway, our landlord is pretty great, and the insurance adjuster should be by this afternoon, and then the contractor can come fix our ceiling and our walls, and they offered to put us up in a hotel for a few days. So, no worries for the Year of the Fangirl: Spring Break Edition, trolliepop and ninamazing. We will even have a new couch! Because ours has died a tragic death, or will, once the mildew sets in.

And now, if the tech guys at school can pull my data off my poor waterlogged laptop, life will be even better! Fortunately, I'm at least smart enough to back up the Really Important Stuff to G-docs.

PLEASE TO LOVE ON US WITH LOVE, OKAY, INTERNET? Voice post maybe later.

Love love love,

coffeesuperhero and leiascully
