Well, school is going better than I thought. We are nearing mid-term and I'm finally feeling like I'm getting in the swing of things. I'm thankful that there isn't a mid-term in any of my classes, but I'm a little behind in my lab class and mid-term means I need to be more done than I currently am. I'm going to be getting tutoring in French starting on Monday morning. I had kind of hoped that the tutoring sessions would be later in the day, but I didn't have much of a say in it and I did list all my available hours. It will be nice to not have as much French homework in the evenings or to not struggle as much with it.
My job is just starting being something regular and I'm wondering when/if I will get paid. I'm assured that payment will come and I will be quite pleased with it, but the director has never done this before either, so she doesn't have much information on the subject and she also hasn't seen a paycheque yet. The nice thing is that I've been carpooling into Lynden so I'm not making the trip alone or with my gas--so far. Things will be changing on Monday when I will need to drive into school right after school for a 4pm rehearsal. The nice thing about that is that rehearsals will be done at a reasonable hour and I can get home by 7. The other nice thing is that I have a say in when rehearsals will happen so they will fit my schedule and I won't have to shuffle things around.
My cars are slowly being given the necessary maintenance they have needed for the last few years/months. Working on them makes me feel good--even when they are misbehaving. I think I may stop my current college track and go back to the technical college to get my mechanic's license/certification. The initial cost is a little steep as I have to purchase a bunch of tools, some more coveralls and such, but I think that I might be happier with that career path (and $75 per hour is always nice!). I will also be eligible for more scholarships as auto mechanics is not a typical woman's career. I also had an idea to offer basic auto maintenance classes for those who can't even change their own oil (this would be after I finish auto mechanics' school).
