I'm doing pediatrics now
complete with required terrible head cold. my nose hasn't been this runny since I was...I cant even remember. I sound like a MAN because my throat is so scratchy. I feel tons better this morning. But since John is in NOLA, and we have only been talking on the phone, he thinks I'm close to death.
FYI: There is no cure for the common cold. You can only treat symptoms, and some symptomatic treatments actually inhibit your bodies natural defenses. Example, cold combo that suppress cough, while thinning mucus. So mucus RUNS into your lungs! For previous, and relatively minor ( i have cough sometime, and i'm tired) colds, as opposed to this major (please excuse me miss strawberry, I want to hear all about your boo boo, but first I have to go blow my nose, yes it is the second time in 10 min snot has started running down my face)cold, I have been a fan of afrin. Afrin is great symptomatic relief for sinus problems. That feeling of your head being too full. However, I didn't have a sinus headache, but only wanted my nose to stop running. When I inhaled the Afrin this time around, I actually screamed in pain. This time the only thing that helped was tylenol. Which is my official (student who has no idea what she is doing) recommendation. Take tylenol for the aches and chills that come along with a bad cold. Suffer through the rest and it will resolve quickly. PS, alot of cold remedies have demonstrated the same efficacy of placebo. It might work...in your head.
