In other news, my mother and I decided to take a break from the horrors of the household, and took a trip to San Diego. We arrived Sunday afternoon, and enjoyed the day with my grandparents. They wooed me with food as they always do, and I was fat and happy. My grandpa made shrimp scampi. I swear, after eating ham and cheese (and I don't even like ham!) Hot Pockets for about a week straight, I was all OMG yay!
I literally inhaled an entire plate that was piled high to the top with noodles *droooools* and I had a huge piece of garlic bread. That was Heaven. After that we watched Sling Blade (which I've seen like fifteen times) and then we saw Bridge to Terabithia for the first time. It was fair. It wasn't as wretchedly horrible as I was afraid it might be, but it was hardly impressive.
Granted, it was one of my favorite stories as a kid (and it still is) so I'm going to be a harsh judge. It was worth watching once, I suppose. Now I don't have to sit and wonder about it.
Today, we went to the San Diego Wild Animal Park. Double yay! We both had a wonderful time, even though it was about one hundred degrees while we were there. I'm telling you, it was fucking hot. Thank God for those mist sprays and lots of water fountains. Those were lifesavers!
We brought Mom's new digital camera, which I bought her for Christmas, and we both had fun taking pictures of all the animals! It seems like we picked the perfect day to go, because even though there were hardly any people, there were lots of animals.
Personally, I think the lion exhibit was the coolest. Although, we came just as they were feeding them, so we got an extra close look. It was fantastic! Not to mention there were seven baby cubs for us to watch as well! I think we were very lucky to approach that area when we did. It was hot, and the lions hid in the shade pretty much for the rest of the day as far as we could tell.
I could go on and on about the events of today, and describe every step in detail, but I think I've gone far enough. I started uploading pictures onto Photobucket, but they're performing site maintenance, so I will finish tomorrow. Hopefully, I can get post them tomorrow.
Yeah.
