It's just that people always get used to it, that some things are always around us and when something suddeny happens, someone dies, our world shakes because that is something we can't ever be totally prepared for.
It's usually the same thing with celebs, when they pass away, everyone feels that it's been a personal loss since celebs are the voice of the nation, they show us the road, they can inspire us, they can show that they deal with every day issues like everyone else but when someone well-known dies, that's kind of strange feeling too, suddenly they become "more human" to us because they aren't immortal although sometimes it does feel like they are.

that's exactely how i feel. of course i didnt know the man, just the artist, but he's such a great part of my childhood ! i remember trying unsuccessfully to do the moonwalk in front of my mirror, i remember screaming of fear while watching Thriller (and still, i just couldnt stop watching ^^), i remember buying his albums with my own money.

it's like i still dont fully realize he's gone :/ like you said, some people seem immortal...

Yea, I know, I remember that the first poster I ever got from a magazine was from Michael Jackson when I was 7.
I also got very upset when I heard about Heath Ledger because he's been part of my youth and I always played with a thought that I could meet him one day, I was 12 then and it's very hard for me to understand he's gone too and I think it might be even harder to us because we didn't really know them but they still were part of our lives and in the future I probably keep on wondering why doesn't Michael Jackson make any new music or why Heath Ledger doesn't make any new movies.
