Also, my two favorite Laura Kinsale novels are $2.99 @ Amazon:
The Shadow and the Star
This is the one with the child prostitute who is trained as a ninja so he can retrieve a katana from London, but who also becomes a jewel thief as part of a complicated plan to shut down various bordellos specializing in child prostitution, and with the sweet-natured illegitimate milliner's assistant who was raised by a village of kindly spinsters and widows after her mother died in childbirth. Warnings for dub-con, What These People Need Is A Honky, white colonizers in Hawaii just before the American usurpation. It is still so totally my favorite.
Flowers in the Storm
This is the one about the mathematician duke who is imprisoned as a madman when he suffers aphasia after a stroke, and the stubborn, stern, and principled Quaker who rescues him. Warnings for healing probably a bit rushed and recovery probably a bit too thorough in the end and a not entirely satisfactory conclusion to the moral conflicts between Quaker and aristocrat. It is still so totally my second favorite.
There are also a bunch of her other novels available for $2.51-$2.99, including the one with the
masochist assassin, sadistic domme, and revolutionary politics, and also the secret history with the absent-minded female inventor of airplanes and radios during the Napoleonic wars.
Laura Kinsale in general: so totally my favorite.
