it seems like other people are posting, and i haven't really made the "start of college" post yet. so, uh, here we go.
in all honesty, RIC is EXACTLY like i thought it was gonna be. a bunch of the people i used to HATE in high school. my parents keep saying "why don't you just go make friends?". i haven't yet come across anyone i would waste my time with. well, i did meet 3 pretty cool people in percussion ensemble (lol, of course). i'm sure there are some people out there in the same situation as me, but i'm finding it difficult to find them. i wish there were, like, some way to find someone. post something on a bulletin board saying
"Wanted: friend. Someone who can hold a real conversation about politics or other worldly events, but at the same time, be able to have a marathon of all of the thanksgiving episodes of Friends, or something rediculous like that. Must have a sense of humor, but be able to be serious when the situation warrants it. Knowledge of the music world and an eclectic taste in music is a must. Please, no druggies."
that'd be nice.
My classes are ok i guess.
Writing and Rhetoric is a waste of my time, especially since i have to take a Business Writing class next year. The teacher is a friggin hottie though. and i have that class with Sammy Rossi, my only friend there.
Computers in Management also seems kinda pointless at the moment. It's a requirement for my major, yes, but i already know how to use a computer. The purpose of the class is to eventually teach us how to use the applications for business functions. I've already mastered word, excel, powerpoint, and access. Bring on another program i don't know at all before i gouge my eyes out.
Quantitative Business Analysis I , another requirement for my major, seems like it could be going somewhere, but it's review for now. Yay for actually using calculus for real life purposes. I don't think most of the people in that class will make it to QBA II next semester.
Percussion Ensemble is a nice repreive. Mike DeQuattro is awesome. Percussion teachers in general tend to be really cool. This is where i met Dan, Casey, and Jen, three pretty decent people. Dan is a performance major, and seems like he definately has major friend potential. Casey is crazy, and just keeps me laughing. Jen is nice, and is a nursing major, so she can, like, save my life, or at least thats what we jokingly tell her. AND, i saw Mr. A (who i now call Greg, still weird). He teaches a class after percussion ensemble, so i get to see him at the end of this class. His wife had the baby, his name is Nathan, and he is sooooooo cute :) . I really do miss Greg (weird) more than i thought i would. He's like family to me.
And, my other favorite class, French. I'm getting my accent back, thank god. The professor is really french, and her english isn't so good, but i can deal. I've been doing well. I'm so motivated to learn it. I really think it'll be possible to be fluent in the 4 years. The class size will also slowly get smaller and smaller each semester. I wonder how many people make it to the end? All i know is i want to.
i definately want to transfer. if i don't, i am DEFINATELY going to graduate school. hopefully Babson or some other awesome business school.
i work at Petco too. My boss is nice, and some of the other managers are cool. The customers can be annoying at times, but all of the owner's puppies and dogs are adorable :)
