Dear Self-
Please do remember that when you attack someone with a sword, one of two things will happen. Either you will hit your target or you won't. Either way, you have other options, other defenses and other attacks to draw upon. Getting three inches away from someone in no way guarantees that you are going to be able to successfully hit them, on the contrary it also increases the chance that the are going to be able to land a blow on you.
In other words- either you're going to hit someone or you won't. Have some confidence in yourself, have a little faith. Remember how that's the advice that you always give out to others? Start taking it from yourself.
