it's still Wednesday here...

Currently reading: Erm, Knight's Fee by Rosemary Sutcliff. Just as rich in physical detail as her other work, if no better about women than any of the other novels. Surprisingly, it has an intense friendship between two young men! ::grins::

Just finished: The Jungle by Upton Sinclair, which I never read in high school (I know!). Vivid and horrifying, and yet, not really a novel as such. No character growth or development, and far too many lectures at the end. Still, worth reading if only to recognize how much better we in the US have it now in terms of worker and consumer safety. What's that line, about how Sinclair wanted to start a revolution, and what he got was the USDA.

Oh, and I read Archivist Wasp by Nicole Kornher-Stace last week. I enjoyed it, especially the end, although I'm not that into underworld stories. Still, it was vivid and I liked Wasp in all her cranky fierceness.

Up next: Possibly Zen Cho's Terracotta Bride, which I snapped up on Amazon today. And there's only one person ahead of me on the library hold list for The Fifth Season, so I will finally get to read that.

OK, off to bed. Man, I could really use that hour back.
