So I was in the mountains all weekend, and then accidentally deleted the Olympics opening ceremonies from my Tivo. The Big Picture however stepped in to show me some of what I missed. Looks both brilliant and kind of wtfery.

OK, I hate to say it, but I don't think this is good news. PJ, have you forgotten the maxim that Less is More? (Also, I remember King Kong.) ::sigh::

Jim Hines has been (is?) a rape counsellor, and writes frequently on feminist issues. He was going to do an Ask Me Anything thread on Reddit as part of the publicity for his forthcoming book (Libriomancer, looks like fun), but then he discovered a thread on Reddit where rapists were telling their stories. (Lots of failure to understand the legal meaning of "censorship" in comments there, and lots of butthurt Redditers.) (Mirrored here on LJ.)

Oh, sad news for the Farscape community. Raise a glass tonight for Jonathan Hardy, who provided both the voice and the eyebrows of Dominar Rygel XVIth. And, apparently, co-wrote the screenplay for Breaker Morant, which I never knew!

Here's a lovely tribute by Farscape executive producer Richard Manning.

I don't have a Rygel icon, sadly, but I do have my one Rygel story. Anyone have any Rygel recommendations to share?
