Baby cougars! Awwww. *
Unbuilt Washington, a new exhibit at the National Building Museum about ideas for the capitol which never were implemented. (I love the National Building Museum, it's such a gorgeous place.)
I've been hearing a bit about Delia Sherman's new novel, The Freedom Maze. It's one of those premises that could go terribly awry in the wrong hands, but
the reviews have generally been positive.
The Economist reviews an exhibit about
one of the first Africans in Vienna, who sounds like a fascinating individual.
Wired has an article on what the availability of pepper spray as a tool does to
police decision-making.
25 reasons a reader will stop reading your story. A bit OTT, but worth considering.
The Muppets is getting some
glowing reviews. I can't wait to see it.
Noted for future reading:
a long piece in the Columbia Journalism Review on the pundits and gurus talking about the future of journalism.

Oh, good god:
Sixty percent of [the tray tables, across all of the planes] tested positive for MRSA. I'm never flying without sanitizer again.

In other news, it occurred to me as I was writing last night that I am, in some ways, utterly predictable as a writer.
So I have invented a meme: writers, What do you do in every fandom?
1. Burials. I've buried major characters in four fandoms-XF, Farscape, SPN, Narnia. (Two of those deaths were canonical, even if they didn't stick...)
2. Running and climbing. Apparently I'm really invested in my characters getting exercise. I did both of those in both XF and SPN.
3. Destroying the world. This is, of course, what I'm best known for: XF, Farscape, SPN, SG-1/SGA.
There must be something else I'm missing, though--those can't be the only things I repeat myself with.

David Plotz's mother bakes
twenty pies for Thanksgiving. I think that's a challenge,
comice!
Me, I will be baking a
maple-walnut pie tonight, brining the turkey, and making cranberry sauce from
heresluck's recipe. Tomorrow will start with an early morning run, and then the whirlwind of cooking.
May everyone celebrating Thanksgiving have a safe and pleasant holiday, with family or friends. Everyone else, I wish you a safe and pleasant Thursday.
