Hey, remember the Eclipse kerfuffle a couple of years ago, about the fact that there were no women on the cover of the anthology? check it out. And, frankly, I think that list is really appealing: I'd buy it for Kushner, Gloss, and Klages alone. Oh, and Nnedi Okorafor is in it, too! Cool! Which reminds me, I finally bought Who Fears Death at Fogcon, and I really need to sit down and read it.

John Scalzi wants to know where all the female sci-fi movie writers and directors are. The very first comment asserts that it's because women just don't like SF as much. And one of the commenters claims that women don't write science fiction. This will be news to
oursin, who has just this week been compiling a list.

anastigmatfic just put up a couple of posts of old photos, which she captioned as though they were photos of characters from Narnia (and from
rthstewart's Narnia stories). And I think I found where she got them, or at least some of them: this set of wacky old photos on Buzzfeed. No. 8 could very well be Lucy Pevensie and her first encounter with penguins. And I really love No. 48.

In non-political news, I found this entertaining and ridiculous.
YouLookFab has an entry today on building the basics of a professional women's wardrobe. Happily, she doesn't insist that everything be purchased at once, because that would be ridiculous. I did notice that even after mumblety years in the workplace, I still don't comply with all her recommendations. Or I might, but I don't use all my options. I certainly have more than 3 cardigans...
I did do some shopping over the weekend. I went to Nordstrom's Rack for bras and ended up with a new red trench coat (I'd been looking for a brightly-colored three-season coat for a while), and two pairs of shoes. (The first pair I didn't get in that exact pattern, but they're equally fun, and amazingly comfortable.)
And now I'm sad because this is so not the weather in which to wear flat shoes without socks: it's been raining for days, and apparently will continue on at least until Saturday. Boo.
To wrap up: The webfilter at work now blocks The Onion. ::sigh::
And I am so making this Scottish oat-and-whiskey cake this weekend. NOM.
