By way of Laura:
The .doc File of J. Alfred Prufrock. I have heard the servers singing, each to each. Simply marvelous. (Oh, and it's been BoingBoinged on the LJ mirror. I am unsurprised.)
Linda Holmes rants in despair about
network dramas and the apparent hopelessness of producing quality for the masses. I'm not sure I agree with everything she says, but it's a worthwhile read. And she doesn't even touch the issue that struck me right away: she's surprised that Fox cancelled a show after one episode? Seriously? Has she been living under a rock for the last decade?
George Lucas stole Chewbacca but it's okay; an essay about influence.
Some days I wonder how

preserving your fabulous tomatoes for use in January. I have to admit, this looks easier than canning. Me, I've been getting my tomatoes the last few weeks from my sister's garden. (Every year they plant fewer and fewer plants, and every year they still have more tomatoes than they know what to do with.) I've had
panzanella four times in the last two weeks; it's probably time to branch out.
