Niall Harrison decides to read some heroic fantasy (epic fantasy, high fantasy, sword-and-sorcery, use whatever label you like), and decides that
Fritz Leiber is overrated. I don't actually have an opinion on this: I read the Fafhrd and Gray Mouser stories many years ago, and they didn't have a huge impact on me. I look forward to more of Niall's forays into the genre, though. (I suspect Andre Norton's prose will not hold up to close examination. Ahem.)
Today's Unshelved is a special treat for anyone who's read The Road.
This made the rounds the other day, but if you missed it:
Zombies in plain English. A primer for the apocalypse. ::hat-tip to

Fannishly, y'all need to watch
counteragent's new SPN vid, which is all
meta and squeeful and stuff. I'm still pondering my response to it, frankly, and I'd love to see someone smart like
untrue_accounts talk about this vid and
cesperanza's remarkably-similar SGA vid (similar thematically, I mean!) from VVC this past summer. Because I am having a hard time articulating my very different reactions to the two of them.
Okay, now I have to grab lunch, as we have a big staff meeting at 1 pm in which I will be incredibly bored by lots of talking about institutional organization.
