Title: Five Families John Winchester Never Had Author: cofax Rating: Teen, Bob Spoilers: Generally through season 2 Summary: Five roads that might have been taken. 4,500 words. Notes at end.
I like both the new sections - esp how the Dean that comes out of CPS isn't the Dean we know in canon. I like how you turned around the last one, as well - this version fits the theme much better. (But I'm still missing, a little, that other woman, that other home, and how nothing, in the end, was made better.)
(I was worried that the title would put too many people off.)
The last one is pure self-indulgent wish-fulfillment on my part, and it was very fun to write. I'd never found John/Mary all that hot, actually, until I wrote that scene, and went, "Oh, so that's how it is." Heh.
This was wonderful! My favorite was the last one, because I'm a sucker for happy endings. 1, 2, and 4 are just heartbreaking and make me think that for all his faults, John made the right decision in keeping the boys with him. Even with the difficulties he and Sam have in canon, I never doubt that they love each other, even if they have a hell of a time showing it or reading it in the other.

(I hate the first couple of hours after posting a story, because I just can't stop hitting refresh. My insecurities, let me show you them!)
