So my old messenger bag isn't quite dying, but the cover is looking a little ratty. And since I use it as a briefcase and take it to meetings with clients, that's not so great.
The current bag has a nice unusual tapestry kind of cover, without being outrageous or too consciously-hip, but the material is fraying.
So I'm looking for a new one, although since the bag came with a lifetime warranty, I suppose I could return it for repairs.
Current options are:
CourierWare, which is where I got the old bag. But I don't like the tapestry covers too much, and they don't sell a bag with a laptop slot in it that's the size I want.
Timbuk2, but they're oh, so popular. Also I don't much like the colors or the fact you have to have the logo. Or the ripstop nylon instead of cordura. I like cordura.
A new runner-up is
Chrome Bags, which are made right here in the Bay Area. But the website is very awkward and I'm not sure how hip I want to go with this new bag. Boring and professional? Or hip and fun? And even the smallest bag looks pretty large.
And then there's
Slainte, which has some very cute bags, but again with the more hip than professional.
And I found
Acme from a link on BoingBoing, and I kinda like it. Basic black but it's got good accessories and I like the laptop insert. But yikes, they're nearly double the cost of any of the other bags!
Then of course there's always the
Snurcher bag...
Whattay'all think?
