Summer Recap
This summer was awesome and now I am having trouble getting back into school mode. Maybe I'll just go back to being a bum. I want to get back to posting random rants and inanities so here's the rundown of the summer:
Staff training kinda sucked, it was really short and most of the new staff went to bed early so I ended up just hanging out with the few older returning staff, which was cool. The BC trip was kinda dumb, all front country, but hey BC is beautiful and getting paid to learn to kayak is a pretty sweet deal. The kids sucked too but I got to send the worst one home so that was good. After that trip we had 8 days to get back from Seattle to JH so we got to go to Rainier and hang out in Portland before heading back to Wyoming to do a bunch of random errands (pretending to be the WV medical expert to trick a kid into staying on a trip, a "2 hour" drive to Big Sandy, a meal at JH's most expensive restaurant, etc). The second trip was totally different and one of the best I've had. Amazing kids, 18 days in the back country, no calls to the office, no trip update bullshit. It was wonderful. Wrap up redeemed the office in my mind (mostly) we had all our things done and got to hang out and then they took us out for drinks. I got the owner to agree to let me do an Iceland trip (not holding my breath on that one). Then I went with my co-leader on a road trip to southern Utah which is a very pretty place. We watched the meteor shower at Arches NP. Then headed back to Denver where I am trying to get into the whole school thing again.
So that's it. Regularly scheduled ramblings will resume momentarily.
