Something about electric sheep
One of my stranger fears is that I was just created; winked into existence this instant with all my memories of the past, and the world around me, with no way of knowing. It would be impossible to tell if anything in history had actually happened or if the universe was just now created to look as though it was about 14 billion years old. It could be that at each moment the universe is destroyed and a new one is created. Every moment a new me is created. This is the slogan of many a motivational poster but to me it means that at every moment present-me has to die only to be replaced by next-moment-me with seamless memories of the past billion moments. I worry that one day I will be present-me and some man in a black suit will step through a door and inform me that it is now next-moment-me's turn and that I need to come with him.
