So I'm not working for The Fund anymore. Didn't make quota for 2 consecutive weeks. So thems the rules. I would have been fine with that except that they didnt exactly tell me that. Yes, its in the employee handbook, but I was pretty sure that "dont worry about it, just make quota next week" meant something different than "hey make quota next week or you are fired". The conversation I had last week I thought ended with them letting me slide. I had even offered to sign up my mom to make up the last 70$ I needed to make quota but they said not to worry about it. I also assumed that since they hadn't given me any of the training that they had promised me they were going to not count it. Hell, I was even pretty sure that when they said "dont worry about it, we take into account the location and how others do there" they acually meant something other than what I was told last friday: "it doesnt matter if everyone else does badly at that location, you are still expected to make quota". Sorry, guess there were some communications issues.
I understand where they are coming from. Really, I do. The job basically pays for itself: we raise our own wages, and if that doesnt happen then they dont have time for you. But with the directors too busy to give any training and the locations being shit I thoght they would make some exceptions. With the exception of tuesday (when I raised nearly 200$), I was in locations all week where some of the best canvassers in the country were missing quota. What the hell was I supposed to do with downtown Boulder on 4/20 or Denver University on a sunny Friday Afternoon?
Mainly I'm pissed how they handled it. On Friday when I told the director that I had missed quota 2 weeks running and he told me I could work Saturday to make it up or was fired I didnt take the offer cause I told him bout what the other director had said and let the first week slide. So I thought I had avoided being fired. So Monday I come in, new campaign, made scones, braved the snow to drive 40 minutes to Boulder, and I get called into the office and told that, in fact, I am fired. WTF? They dont make exceptions apparently, it doesnt matter how others do, "you can come in at 5 and discuss this so we can figure out what the communication problem was". Couldn't they have at least called me some time before I woke up at 7 to drive 30 miles through a blizzard to tell me this?
