I'm generally a money-tight person, but yesterday I was hit by a sudden urge to go spend a lot of money (*on myself.) I won't say I regret it, since the stuff I got is pretty cool, but I haven't warmed up the old debit card like that since my idiot-spending college days.
BOOKS:
- Darkly Dreaming Dexter by Jeff Lindsay - (The original source for the Showtime series Dexter.)
- Wicked by Gregory Maguire (Love the musical and my sister loaned me the sequel Son of a Witch to read next.)
- Freakonomics: A Rogue Economist Explores the Hidden Side of Everything by Steven Levitt and Stephen Dubner (Recommended by a coworker.)
- Six Easy Pieces by Richard Feynman (Intro to physics, which I know practically nothing about.)
- The Grim Grotto by Lemony Snicket (The Series of Unfortunate Events book 11)
- The Penultimate Peril by Lemony Snicket (The Series of Unfortunate Events book 12)
- The End by Lemony Snicket (The Series of Unfortunate Events book 13)
- Moving Pictures by Terry Pratchett (Discworld book 10)
- Reaper Man by Terry Pratchett (Discworld book 11)
ARTS & CRAFTS:
- Watercolor paint, paper, brushes, and masking fluid because I've never painted with watercolor before but plan to start.
- Stickers and papers for holiday crafts coming up.
- Various jewelers pliers and tools, bead trays, and wires since I have an earring fetish.
- Wire jig for creating my own yokes and rings for above hand-crafted jewelry fetish.
- One can never have enough rhinestones and crystals... one just runs out of things to glue them to.
One thing I'm regretting about the Discworld series is how they're not actually a series. They're written so you can pick any one up and be okay, but they all reference other characters and stories so they're best enjoyed as a collection. You don't have the read them in order, but I set out to, and I'm finding that I'd be better off reading them in little
groups out of sequence. Lspace.org has a suggestive
theme map or I could keep reading them in
publication order. Terry Pratchett offers his list by
characters and themes as well.
