“This is a national disgrace,” New Orleans’ emergency operations chief Terry Ebbert said Thursday. “We can send massive amounts of aid to tsunami victims, but we can’t bail out the city of New Orleans.”

how can you help anyone else if you can't help yourself?

You know, I have no ties to this thing whatsoever. Granted, I have family members that live in Eastern Texas (i.e. Houston), but I think they're okay. However, I wasn't in any way emotionally affected until I saw a police officer, in uniform, break into tears, asking why this happened. It's ri-goddamned-diculous how local groups seem to be doing more in the help department than the Federal Government. I know that I might have just been hearing rumors, but what was the story about FEMA fraud? Where money that was intended for use on improving the levee system was diverted to prompting people to vote for W?

Sometimes I wonder how we're still a nation after so many piss-poor efforts on our part.

oh, now I remember, we protect our interests... and there's nothing interesting there.

p.s. those people don't matter.
