There's light at the end of the tunnel. I'm finally done with the musical. And I'm halfway done with my audition tape. After 2 weeks of pit rehearsals and another week's worth of full length shows (3 dress rehearsals and 4 performances) I'm tired. But it was soo much fun! I did #31 from the Cirone book and one of the Elliot Carter timpani pieces, "Saeta."
And I also did a movement of a Bach violin partita on marimba.
As for recording, it was a nightmare. My teacher lent me his minidisc recorder, and after recording the PERFECT take of the Carter, I realized that the settings it was on made it record over itself, so I lost everything I had the night before the tape was due. So I skipped school and recorded everything all over again. The minidisc recorder sucked and didn't pick up changes in dynamics, so everything I played sounds like its all the same dynamic level. And the general sound quality was pretty bad. But I thought I played them all pretty well, especially the timp and snare pieces. So I really don't know why I didn't get into orchestra, I'm still pissed about that. But I guess there's always hope. They told my friend, Ian, that they had room for him in orchestra the week before camp. And he ended up first chair wyso. So who knows, lol.

What I'mreally excited for is the percussion ensemble stuff, even if it's kinda intense cause the intermesiate percussion ensemble isnt all that great if you stay for only 1 session. Hey did you by any chance know Jeremy in intermediate percusison? He was there for both sessions. He and I are really close ... just curious...
Ahhhh I'm so excited for camp!
