Eric Meyer is well known as one of the stars and vocal proponents of css layout in website design. He is like unto a God. And he has spoken and said "Tables are good"

He was talking about some things that are really hard to do in css that are simple with tables, like footers. See reference

While following the thread, I found Andy Budd's Blog and the article
about tables. He has lots of really good points that are hard to argue with and that I wish I had seen sooner.
It's one of those things that I think we are going to find a compromise path with, and I think that should probably happen sooner. Hopefully I'll have more thoughts when I start messing around with CSS in a serious way.
