When hippies ruled.

I'm bored at the elementary school. In cleaning up for the end of the year I came across a videotape of Marlo Thomas' "Free to be you and me." I'm too young to remember this when it was big, but I know the basic deal. I popped it in the VCR to see the hair and clothes from 1974. I mean, check out the stars in this thing!

It's a musical rip off of Sesame Street, with more of a message, and rather well done.

There are some wonderful hippie songs...about a boy that cries and is told not to feel bad for showing his emotions.....about a boy that wants a doll...about a girl that's too prissy for her own good..."parents are people"....a princess that may not wish to get married at all!

Just the bits with Mel Brooks as a puppet baby is fun enough to check out.

Young Michael Jackson sings a song about how he doesn't need to change when he grows up. I swear!

The whole thing makes me long for more hippie days...all this Red State-ism ends up getting me down.
