OOC: The Dream

"We are fighting this war for god."

He stood, gun clenched in tiny hands, staring up at a creature so amazing, so magnificent and awe-inspiring that it was impossible not to feel that yes, that was god. How could it be anything but god? Around him the dead lay in shattered piles of bodies among the broken rubble, but what he saw was the shining being.

"Is this Gundam?"

He was older, watching a video feed of mobile suits in combat, clashing, and he felt... Not angry. Not horrified. Just... A bit upset. Puzzled.

"Is this what it is to be Gundam?"

"Does god exist?"

He was standing on that barren landscape, the bodies were gone, the rubble was still there. He held the gun in hands that were big enough not to be dwarfed by it, and surveyed the ruin. There was nothing. Devastation and destruction. Nothing. It was empty and hollow. Or maybe that was him.

"Take a look at this." A woman's voice spoke gently and he turned to regard her. She was kneeling, staring at something. "Even in a place like this, flowers still bloom."

He looked at her, examined the flower she spoke of. She was saying something about not having to fight, his hands were releasing the gun--no they were tightening on something, controls of some sort as he stared at an explosion in space; he knew it was space because that was the earth below them. The backdrop of everything.

"Drink your milk and you'll grow up to be Gundam." A voice, achingly familiar, told him, as he screamed senselessly at the explosion.

"There is no god."

He was running, fighting, turning now and then to shoot at unseen pursuers.

"The world is twisted. Where? Where does it stem from?"

"You've changed." Another familiar voice. Approving.

"God does not exist in this world."

"Veda chose us all." Yet another voice, gentle, slightly concerned. But why couldn't he see their faces? Everything had gone dark.

"God does not exist. Gundam exists. I will become Gundam."

"Why do you fight?" It was the woman, but he couldn't see her, he was waking up.

"I am Gundam." was the last thought he had, he wasn't sure if it was his answer to her, or just a conclusion he had come to. The images and sounds were already fading, but he was certain of that last one.

He was Gundam.

But what did it mean to be Gundam?
