Going from slightly under the weather to very chirpy is an amazing transition!
I don't know what it is (probably the fact that it was friday and I was going to a birthday barbie, hahah) I couldn't help but be the brightest person ever in the history of the world. And I'm glad to say that everything went real peachy today, so props for that.
Something interesting I learnt today in Youth Group came from the Good Samaritan parable. Now, normally, when I think of these kinda parables, I kinda have the attitude of, oh, I remember this, this is kids stuff, which isn't a good thing. But it just goes to show how amazing God is and how much more there is to learn in one single passage. I think God really placed on my heart tonight the difference between "pity" and "compassion". Like, in the parable, the Samaritan looked at the man and felt "compassion" and it got me to thinking about when I do my 'good deeds', am I doing it out of pity or out of compassion. And to be honest, I'd have to lean more towards doing it out of pity rather than compassion and love for my fellow neighbour.
So, my thing to work on is not to feel sorry or pity for my neighbours, but rather, share in their sorrow and have compassion. And perhaps one day, maybe, I may have just an ounce of the compassion Jesus had for us.
good samaritan,
compassion not pity
