In the age of Facebook and Twitter, Livejournal takes a lot of effort and has a dwindling audience, but I'm getting sick of writing one-line updates, and I don't want to speak along a certain theme that would make an independently hosted blog worthwhile. So, I guess it's time for a Livejournal update.

I have some awesome vision insurance, which includes a pair of glasses paid for each year. Every time I get new frames, it turns into an ordeal, and I had put off looking for a new pair to replace my current (3-year-old pair) until January. I went to my optometrist, ended up finding a pair, got the best high-index lenses ordered, then waited. And waited. And waited.

The lab kept messing up the lens, saying it came out defective after anti-reflective coating and finally after about 5 weeks (and a temporary pair of uncoated ones) got the lenses to me. This was earlier this week. I picked up the frames, pretty awesome, except there was a gap between the lens and frame at one part.

This was annoying me all week, so I just went to the optometrist about an hour ago. They take the glasses back and disappear for 20 minutes, only to come back with it looking worse! So now, they have to go back to the lab again.

In the meantime, I've also been trying contacts, but having some issues with comfort, especially while reading a computer screen. I might have found an OK brand, but it's still not as easy as glasses.

What sucks about all this is that my eyes don't have anything freakish going on. No astigmatism, just really nearsighted. Yet this is always such an ordeal for me. Ugh.

I think I should go see if my old optometrist in Minneapolis is still around. She was the best.
