I haven't posted in awhile, although I've had a few events that are post-worthy. Last week, I was in San Diego for the
LISA conference. I've been wanting to see San Diego for awhile, but scheduling was tricky, and I only got to explore the city a bit. The Hotel was in a weird little valley, but I had a rental car.
This past Saturday, my flight to Minneapolis (for the IETF convention) was at 2:10, so I decided I could make it to the anti-prop 8 "Join the Impact" protest. I just uploaded some photos today:
Join The Impact - San Diego It was pretty amazing. 25k people was the crowd estimate. The march was WAY more organized than the San Francisco Protest over a week ago, which was good and bad. In San Diego, we were limited to one side of the road, with the police allowing some traffic through. This frustrates me a bit, because I feel like a social movement needs to be actually be some sort of resistance or have some sort of impact...not be a parade.
So, I had to skip out of the march after about 45 minutes to make it back to my car, and go to the airport, leaving 85 degree San Diego for 30 degree Minneapolis. It's been pretty windy too, so I haven't ventured out of the downtown area very much. I've not actually attended much in the way of the conference (although I'm here to help out with my employer's sponsorship responsibilities along with the guest network,) but should get into it tomorrow. Minneapolis people, lemme know if you want to hang out this week/weekend.
