I don't know where the stereotype that Asians are smart at math came from. I definitely break that stereotype.
I remember back in grade school, I was selected to be a cashier when we had lunch duty. Some teacher gave me a $5 bill instead of coins. I tried giving her back change in quarters but someone told me I could use dollar bills instead. Duh! I would never be able to work on a cash register if I ever had to work at some retail or grocery store. Counting backwards also has me confused.
Another time I was helping a friend with her son's 1st birthday party and I had to multiply how many tables and how many items to put on the tables. So it was 16 tables, 16 favors or whatever. I couldn't multiply that even with a piece of paper! I get the 6x6 part, but didn't know where to go after that. :(
I'm also number dyslexic. I had to mail something to a patient's P.O. Box once and fucked up the box number. We had to reorder his contact lenses and I had to double and triple check to make sure it was correct.
I think I should change my name to Claudia Kishi.
