My laptop is starting to fuck up. About a month ago, this weird pink line appeared on the right side of my screen, and about a week ago, this weird lightening effect showed up on the left-hand side. I showed it to my brother and he told me that it's the pixels of my laptop's screen that's starting to give away. Great. So I probably have to buy a new screen thingy when it gets totally unbearable.
I finished Hotaru no Hikari last night. It was a really cute drama and I loved it to pieces.
It stars Ayase Haruka as Hotaru, who is a himono-onna, which is basically a working girl who has no bf and is a lazy slob when she's at home. This is sadly an accurate description of my life. But I digress.
Anyway, Hotaru, who lives in a house of someone who she met in a bar, suddenly has an unwanted roommate who just happens to be her boss (BUCHOU!), who is the son of the man she's renting from. He's played by Fujiki Naohito and I have never really liked any of his roles in all of the dramas that I've seen him in, but I really like him in this one. His sarcastic "aa, sou" comments whenever Hotaru talks just amuses me and something about him in this drama made me think he was so hot. Or maybe there was a lack of decent-looking guys in this drama.
Come to think of it, I really like Ayase in this drama as well. In the few other dramas I've seen her in (Sekachuu, Byakuyakou, Sore wa Totsuzen...), she played a more serious role, so it was fun to see her in a comedic role, which she did really well. She played Hotaru with such humor, but there was also a sweet, loveable side to her.
So back to the plot...The dried-up in love Hotaru finds herself falling for co-worker Teshima Makoto (played by Kato Kazuki) because he kissed her when she had fallen asleep in a chair. He apparently had fancied her from a while back and she quickly falls in love too. Because of himono-onnaness, she has no idea how to deal with this new-found feeliings of love and she asks her Buchou (what the hell is his name anyway?) for advice, and (almostl) like a fatherly figure, he watches over her. Eventually that "fatherly" love turns into a romantic love.
There are many complications with her love for Makoto, but they eventually move in together, only to have things sour because of his jealousy of her relationship with their Buchou. To make a long story short, she ends up with Buchou and they apparently live happily ever after.
I have to write some comments:
~ I don't know why she fell in love with Makoto. Sure he seemed like the dashing younger guy, but after a while, I thought he looked like a skinnier version of Tsunko!!! Ew, that quickly turned me off. :/ (DAMN! I was going to post that obligatory Tsunku flower pic, but I can't seem to find it *sobs*)
~ Buchou's observations of Hotaru were amusing. Kame-onna, hebi-onna, tire-onna. Hilarious. XD
~ I thought it was really sweet that most of the guys in this drama had no problem with himono-onna. Gives girls like me some sort of hope. :P
~ Hmm...this was a manga before? I wonder how many books there are. I could only find access to the
English version.
Since I thought this was a fun drama, I think I'll give it a 9/10. I think the rating really was based on how much I related to Hotaru's character. If I didn't, this would probably get an 8 from me. (Damn, this was such a stupid scatterbrain review that I'm defo not posting this on jdorama.)
After Hotaru, I watched the first 2 episodes of Bara no nai Hanaya since everyone seems to be talking about it. It seems ok so far, but nothing exciting.
I just wonder what's up with the man who wants to fuck with Hanaya-san (what the heck is his name?) by making Takeuchi Yuko play a blind girl who makes him fall in love with her. Seems like the man is probably Hanaya-san's dead gf/wife's father and wants some sort of twisted revenge, but I'm not entirely sure. Matsuda Shota is in this drama and he's hot as ever (ew, I feel so dirty every time I think this) and the guy from Hanazono no Himitsu (Terajima Susumu) is in it too. Very hot for an older guy. :D If I were Hanaya-san's daughter's teacher, I'd go for the older guy instead of pudgy Katori Shingo.
Haha, being that this is a Nojima Shinji drama, I predict that there will be a death (or 2), someone vomiting, and a fucked-up ending. Of course, he's had a few nice dramas, but at the rate this one is going, I think it'll be one of his fucked-up ones. I hope it's as good as Kono Yo no Hate or Lipstick. >:)
And more drama talk, I just got a bunch of dramas within this past week, most of what was posted in a previous entry. There were about 5 discs that weren't viewable and when I tried to make a copy, it wasn't able to do that as well. I'm beginning to think that it's my Nero burner or my shitty computer that isn't able to copy them. This happened before and when I sent it to someone, he was able to make a copy for me. Argh. Having shitty equipment/programs really suck. Not to mention, this damn computer I'm using is so fucking slow that it says "not enough memory" and I can't get it to stop what it's doing so I can shut off the damn thing.
