This ain't no love poem ... (i'm iffy on the title.. suggestions welcome)

*Sidenote: i'm generally not inspired to write by people i care for on a really deep level, so this is a first*

This ain’t no love poem

So don’t look for a
Deeper meaning in
Between my words.

This ain’t no love poem.

So don’t try to mold my
actions into a modern
romance that fits
neatly in a hallmark box.

I’m no Romeo, and I’ll
be dammed if you’re Juliet.
I need no white steed

Or rose petals upon a bed.
Or candle lit rooms with
bathtubs full of bubbles.

I want no picket fence
or an ending that has
us riding off into the sunset.

As doves glide their way
effortlessly through the air.

What I want I found
deep inside myself.

What I need stares
me down in front of
the mirror daily.

What I love is the
sum of what is here
before you...

and if by some chance
you see that person for
who they really are…

See me.... with all
my flaws, imperfections …
and beautiful things
that make me real.

If you can see all those things..
and still want more..

Well, that’s great.

But this still ain’t no love poem.
