I read people complaining that someone didn't use lube in fic and, well, I keep making way too TMI posts to strangers journals about why that *is* actually ok for some people, and no, you don't need to be a masochist either.
I mean, I guess at least it's past first stage of bad anal in fic, ie the just not giving a damn. It's the ass that's not-so-sekritly pussy.
But then... they 'read' about the mechanics of anal, and suddenly we're down to the formulaic, 1 finger, 2 finger, 3 finger, score! And a variety of unlikely household products as lube, or overly prepared characters.
But.
To rewrite what I've written below. That's still no excuse. Anal is not rocket science. It is not even some strange mystical gay-guy thing. Barring some horrible defect by birth or accident, we all have asses. There isn't much excuse for bad writing that could be massively improved by 5 minutes spent locked in a bathroom. Oh, or does that sound horribly 'squicky'?
Ummm. Another more subtle pussy!ass phenomenon, is the writing of pain in anal. I mean, a lot of it comes across as penetration in a virgin pussy. Whereas... yeah, I know other people have other opinions, but asses stretch differently. If it's hurting, personally I think you're doing it wrong, and should go slower. With pussy, I remember there being hymen remnants that just had to be pushed past. Going slower didn't help.
Hmmm, anyway, back to my point with lube. Luckily, I'm a girl, and actually have an *advantage* in anal, being that there's already a source of lubrication in fairly close proximity. The first time I ever had anal, the only lube was from having had vaginal sex already. Went in incredibly slowly, and didn't hurt a bit, was actually pretty good.
Strangely, I have never ever seen this used in a threesome fic, or even het fic. Some day, I will write it if no one else does.

Depends from person to person, and other factors etc, ie a) fingers first, definitely, b) a little pre-cum or spit can go a long way, and c) an uncut penis.

For the uncut thing, I initially didn't understand the references to guys needing lotion etc to masturbate in many fic, since none of the (uncut) guys of my acquaintance ever needed any, as the foreskin rolls up and down, and then I was like, d'oh. US. Circumcised guys.
I do get the fundamental complaint behind the comment though - people writing sex scenes that they know nothing about.

And really? Anal? Not rocket science. And very little excuse for some of the truly bad fanfic out there. I mean, barring some horrible defect by birth or accident, we've all got asses. It's not that hard to empathise.
