Since I think every cute girl should smell of fruits and flowers and sugar and spice I decided to get my roommate a perfume for her upcoming birthday. For some bewildering reason or another, she just cannot stand to use perfume on her delicate skin. The only thing she would grace her body with is the Love Spell body spray from Victoria's Secret...and though it smells so entirely delicious, it's well...weak! So being the unrelenting newbie perfume-lover that I am, I've decided to drag her out to Sephora and dedicate an entire day (if needed) to getting her a perfume of her choice. Now I knew that this was going to be a daunting challenge, but I figured the payoff of getting her to wear perfume would be well worth it.
We headed over to Beverly Center (because apart from South Coast Plaza, it's the best!) and got distracted by the Stila store and all its glittery new glosses on display (gah are we such typical girly consumers or what?!) and the fact that I had a 20% off coupon probably made us spend more than we should have. But in the end, we both left the store with slightly lighter wallets and largely larger smiles on our faces, so it was worth it. : P
And then Sephora...well. We probably spent about a good 1.5 hours in there going from one pretty perfume bottle to the next. I was like a perfume nazi, spraying scents on those paper scent strips and shoving them up my unsuspecting roomie's nose one after another. And after much perusing and coffee-bean sniffing, we were down to two contestants: Escada's Rockin' Rio and Stacked Style's Carnival Crush. Of course, these are in the same scent family: tropical fruity/floral. I preferred Rockin' Rio slightly, but she ultimately decided to go with Carnival Crush because...(get this) it smelled less like perfume. OMG. *shakes head* But I have to admit, I'm proud of her for fighting the good fight and not giving up till she found the scent of her choice. ; )
And then of course it was off to XXI (umm some sad attempt to rename Forever 21?!) to get dangly, sparkly, and slightly skanky (hahha) earrings. Man oh man. Those earrings come down to the shoulders!!!
And of course, what shopping day is complete without good, greasy food? We drove to The Counter (MUCH better burgers than the Apple Pan) and stuffed our faces with custom burgers. DUDE. I love that place. So messy, so filling, so greasy, but oh-so-so good. The meat patties are THICK and grilled to perfection so all the lovely meat juice is retained. The buns are buttered and slightly toasted. The lettuce, tomatoes, and avocados are chopped fresh and piled generously on top of the patty. And the cheese fries...gah! It was a lovely experience. : )
But yes, today was full of girly fun, but starting from now we'll both have to buckle down and study for finals and work out to burn those burgers off! And then in about 2 weeks is graduation....dang. Dang dang dang.
