Vacation Number 2

Jun 13, 2004 18:14

So, it's been two days since the last time I wrote, and I have nothing else to do, so I figured why not update the journal?
So, yesterday we went to The Mall and saw the WWII Memorial and the Holocost museum. Man was that tough to do. The WWII memorial was beautiful and nice to see, but the Holocost museum was amazing. I'm totally into studying the Holocost and so it was the thing I was most excited to see the museum. But it totally drained me emotionally. I thought about my life and what's most important, and I am so lucky to have what I have and who I have in my life. I take so much for granted and I just never really realized it before. There are people in my life that I don't ever want to lose. And I just need to really concentrate on making sure that I keep those people close.
Oh, and after the Holocost museum, even though I had had enough, we went to the Thomas Jefferson Memorial. It was nice, I guess. I was just stil kind of out of it from the Holocost Museum. We also to the metro to Union Staion where we walked around, had some dinner, and saw The Stepford Wives. And then FINALLY we went back to the hotel.
So that was yesterday.
Today we were planning on going to church at the National Cathedral and then take the trolley on it's tour around the DC area. But what happened instead was that we went to church at the cathedral (which was amazing by the way) but then decided to take a taxi to the hotel and change out of our church wear (because it was rather windy) and then start the trolley again where we started before and take the tour. So we changed and then went to take the trolley again. Instead of it all going quickly like we thought it would, it took 20 mins for a trolley to come, which was full, so we had to wait another 20 mins for another one to come that could take us. We had lunch and shopped around in Georgetown, and then took the trolley tour to the Lincoln Memorial and the area. We wasted about 20 mins again beacuse of the trolley, but it ended up being OK. We saw the Lincoln, Vietnam, Women's, and Korean Memorials. Then we took the trolley for the rest of the tour and back to the hotel. However, about 3/4 of the way to the hotel the trolley ran out of gas. So we decided to walk to the White House and see it and then take the metro to the hotel. So we did that, which was OK but a lot more walking, had dinner, and finally came back here.
Now we're about to go drive around the Memorials at night and see them all lit up. So there you go.
