so will i pass my thai massage exam tomorrow and get my certificate?
or will i have to stay in bangkok a few extra days so i can retake it?
i'm really not sure what will happen!
the course hasn't been HARD, but it hasn't been easy either.
its a lot of WORK, thai massage!
and we have to memorize their sequence EXACTLY in order to pass the class... passing the class isn't like a huge deal because it doesn't mean anything for me or for my job at home, but it will be cool to have a certificate. it will even have my picture on it!
they say if we don't pass the hands-on final we have to practice at the school for a few days and then try again. i fly back to hanoi on tuesday night so hopefully if i don't pass tomorrow (saturday) i can pass by tuesday.
it really doesn't matter though. i'm not going out of my way to memorize every single thing in their routine... i'm just not into sequenced massages.
although it is a good routine and i have learned a lot of new moves.
i just want to go home and work what i've learned here into what i already know.
thai massage for me is a little less satisfying than a regular swedish or deep tissue massage, to give and to receive. its a different kind of touch... and a lot less specific than the work i like to do. but it is a great modality and i do love that the client doesnt' have to undress and all you need is a mat instead of a table.
my fingers have been itching to do a regular massage so much lately! i just want to get my hands on someone!
well in any event, i'm so happy i did this course! brian paid for it for me, can you believe it?!! he is so ridiculously generous. of course i'm sure he'll want me to pay him back in massage, but that's easy.
its been so fun actually having something i have to DO here... its really exciting to commute like the locals on the longboats down the river in the mornings!
