20 Interesting Things I've Learned While Studying Abroad

1. Time goes faster on this side of the world. For serious.

2. Tonka makes trucks for grown-ups too.

3. Postal workers are grumpy in every country.

4. Just when you think you've got things figured out, life throws you the ultimate curve ball.

5. Pistachios grow on trees. (who knew?)

6. Even cool things, like the Acropolis, begin to seem "ordinary" if exposed to them for too long. (Although, hello, it's still wicked cool, eh?)

7. Athenian drivers have one thing on their minds at all times: Kill all pedestrians, even the ones on the sidewalks.

8. Truck drivers, construction workers, and mechanics are horny in every country and will whistle at anything with two legs. (Thank you, Corey, for that one)

9. Snail mail is a wonderful, wonderful invention.

10. If you want your shoes cleaned, go into a grocery store.

11. Asian tourists are taking over the world.

12. Communism is definitely not dead.

13. Life has an uncanny way of bringing you friends from unlikely places and warming your heart in ways you never expected.

14. The words "catastrophe" "abroad" "wounded" "decade" "colonel" and "Kolokotronis" are hiLARious when said by a Greek teacher.

15. When left to its own devices for too long, mozerella cheese logs start oozing pink liquids.......(and as a new friend would say, it means that the cheese is sexually excited)

16. Greek cleaning ladies have no qualms about fishing out moldy sponges from the trash to use to wash the dishes.

17. Europeans don't actually hate Americans.... they just think we're trying to take over the world.

18. There's a lot more going on in the world than Dateline will have you believe.... branch out!

19. Teenage boys blasting gangsta rap out of their car windows is cross-cultural.

20. And finally.... studying abroad is one of the greatest desicions you'll ever make!!!!
