Hello all,
With Harry Potter mania dying down now at the cinema (though there are still flash floods of hundreds of people in the last 10 minutes!) I figure I should give another update before the last two weeks of game development really hit home with the inevitable bugs and re-works required.
Odeon
All I can say about the Odeon right now is how I am getting a maaaassoof pay tomorrow :D More five week months please! I will actually be able to put money in my savings again... which is hard to believe, as well as actually buying stuff and eating more!
There are brief complaints about the management of the place these days... either having way too many staff or preciously little each time. But... if we on "team bins" can get a Harry Potter weekend day amount of rubbish down to the bins in under 10mins, I think we are okay!
Could do without having to see the adverts with Harry Potter over and over o.O Irn Bru, Oreo's, Weeto's, Coco Pops, Butlins, Sony Walkman phone, Harry Potter on Wii, Mario & Sonic at the Winter Olympics.... it's like I want them all!
...
Well... not Butlins...
Game Development
While things are really, really frantic... I am putting my head down and just working on what I've got to do. We have under two weeks left and unfortunately the biggest problem is our character artist, who has only just gotten around to rigging one character. I gave her a crash course in rigging and weighting recently too... I am trying to keep an eye on it as well as I can over the internet.
The level itself is practically finished now. It looks a lot nicer with the skybox, fog, environment assets etc. I've got little texturing works to do and some puzzle elements. Otherwise, everyone is pretty happy with it :) It got Dayna's approval.
It is just a wardrobe...
Bah! No it ain't! (omg spoilers)
This is very fresh off Maya... quite a strange beast to rig. But then... it is nothing compared to a Transformer /swt
My favourite, yet at risk of being cut from the game due to time constraints, the Boogeyman was fun to build and rig. texturing is nicer on him... but admittedly for me it isn't as high quality as it could be. Just not enough time for everything!
Today our Audio guy got us doing "evil laughs" for the Boogeyman. Oh dear. I nearly sound like The Count before effects were added to it!
Everything Else
Some family issues can't help but spring up too it seems. My Mum was at fever pitch as my Dad's health was in question for the last few weeks. First it was a heart murmur, then it was a damaged muscle in his chest, then it was him possibly being diabetic... now it's along the lines of "he is perfectly fine!" God I hate hospitals. But I suspect he is going to do less strenuous things from now on. At least I hope he does!
Sunday was my one day off from all of this. I spent the day watching three films I got from Lovefilm :) The Bank Job, which was decidedly average; Coach Carter, which was pretty good for a sports film; Garden State, which threw me as it was great! All the while eating ASDA chocolate brownies cake slices.
Oh yes, my EeePC did die on me on Sunday =( but our game programmer managed to rescue the not-so-recently-backed-up copy of my book =) I since restored it to factory settings and it works again. Phew.
